Open Access Day 2009
In celebration of Open Access Week 2009, the NCAR Library and ECAR co-hosted a panel discussion on the nature of science, scholarly publishing, and the scientific process in the 21st century. The afternoon featured a welcome by Rick Anthes; President of UCAR, introductory remarks by Richard Katz; Director of ECAR; reflections on the role of federal agencies in funding and supporting technological innovation by George Strawn, then the Chief Information Officer of the National Science Foundation; and a survey of the history, significance, and future of these innovations by John Wilbanks, Vice President of Science Commons.
Many thanks are owed to ECAR for their generous support of this timely event, and to everyone who helped make it such a success. Video from the day's events is now available. View the full Open Access Day discussion.
